He is 20 years old on the 1870 Lawrence County, Arkansas, census living with his Father and Mother. Living in Household of Widow Amy Holt in 1880 Census. No trace of him for 20 years until the 1900 census he was living with a J. Ratliff as a boarder on the 1900 Lawrence County, Arkansas. Family history thinks he may have killed a man in Lawrence County Ark and gone to CA. He just drops out of sight after the 1900 census.

Johann Rudolf Lauterbach , then age 30, and Cunigunda Kolb Lauterbach , then 28, had John George Lauterbach on Wednesday, Feb 13, 1850, Trebgast, Oberfranken, Bavaria. 5:30 PM, Easy, alive. Midwife Gries. Moved to Lindau at age 7. Immigrated to America in 1869 at age 19. Homesteaded 2.5 miles E of Clearwater, Segwick County, Kansas. "This is from Aunt Nettie's note. She is suppose to have written this down as Grandpa Lauterbach told it to her: 'I was born in Trebgast, Germany. When seven years of age, moved to a village called Lindau. I had three brothers, George, Fredrick and Alberecht. My father's name was Rudolph. He died at the age of 42 years, born in 1818. Mother died at age 44 years, four years after my father died. When age 14, I learned the shoemakers trade for which I had to pay 25 guilders for learning three years, then got the sum of 1/2 guilder per week until 19 years old when I started to America. A guilder is equal to 40 cents in our money.' " First automobile in the Clearwater area was a red Haliday owned by John George. When he later bought a Ford Model T Coupe, he gave the red Haliday to son Charles. In January 1938, Charles Jr. drove the Haliday to the field where his airplane was parked. Charles Jr. crashed on take-off and was killed. The little car was left in the field for a couple of days, and many parts were stolen from it, presumibly to commerate the first air crash that any had seen. (From note written on photograph of the Haliday, in possession of AnaLisa Worden Bischoff, February 2003) It is my understanding that the car is still is a museum in Wichita, but I have not yet tried to locate it. He claimed the Southeast Quarter of Section 34, Twp 16, Range 5, which is in Logan Township, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma. (T16N, R5W) This was approx 1 and 1/2 miles West and 1/2 miles North of the town of Downs. Downs was later moved 1/2 mile South and renamed Cashion, to be on the new CRI&P railroad. The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific ran through Cashion going to Kingfisher to the West and Guthrie to the East.

Thomas Isles McDannold , then age 25, and Mary Elizabeth Means McDannold , then 23, had John James McDannold on Friday, Aug 29, 1851, Mount Sterling, Brown County, Illinois. John attended the common schools and a private school in Quincy; was graduated from the law department of the University of Iowa City inJune 1874. He was admitted to the bar of Illniois in September 1874 and commenced practice in Mount Sterling, Illinois. Appointed master in chancery for Brown County in 1886; reelected in November 1890 and served until October 2, 1892, when he resigned, having been nominated for Congress. He was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress (March 4, 1893 - March 3, 1895), was not a candidate for renomination in 1894. He served a term in the U. S. Congress and practiced law in Mt.Sterling & Chicago, IL. Census: 1880 Mt. Sterling, Brown Co., Illinois.

Thomas Jefferson Hathcoat and Anna Berthena Roberts Hathcoat had Araminta F. Hathcoat in 1852/53, Arkansas. Or Arminda, and called Minnie. I don't know a lot about Aunt "Minnie." I was told one of the girls married a man by the name of Holder but he was mean to her so she came back home. But I found no record of this marriage. What I do know is that she had a daughter Julia Streta Magaline, born 1874. She was about 4 years old when her mother Arminda Hathcoat married Bartly Lawson. Arminda was 26 years old and Bartly was 80 years old, (another record says 83 years old). Arminda had two more children when she was married to Bartly Lawson: b--Bertha, born 1880 married Wyatt McNabb. c--Loss Andrew, born 1881, Boone County Arkansas, died 1965 Comanche Oklahoma .Loss Lawson's 2nd wife changed his name to "LOSSSON." I was told that Arminda remarried after Bartly died but was not married long. Her daughter Julia had married Alfred D. Winfield Stewart, in 1898, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, then had moved to Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Arminda went to Sallisaw to be with Julia for the birth of Julia's first child, got sick and died there. (W. 9 Oct 1871, The Great Chicago Fire was an event of such enduring fame not just because of the dramatic nature and enormous extent of the devastation, but also because of when and where it occurred. By the early 1870s, it was clear to Americans that the United States was being transformed into an urban industrial nation, and that Chicago more than any other city seemed to embody that continuing transformation. At the time of the fire, Chicago was barely a generation removed from its frontier past, but it was already evolving from a regional mercantile center to an industrial metropolis in an international economy. An obscure trading post at the beginning of the century, it had less than 5,000 people when it was granted its first city charter in 1837, just under 30,000 by 1850, and a little more than 330,000 on the eve of the fire. It had recently passed St. Louis to become the fourth largest city in the country. As a result, the world's attention was already focused on ever-changing Chicago, and so the fire commanded as much interest as it did because it struck at a place so much in the limelight. Behind the spectacular story of a great city going up in flames was the question of how the emerging urban society of which Chicago was a symbol would respond to such a challenge. William Thomas Holder married Judah Tennessee L Roberts the cousin of Mary Jane. I was told that William Carson Holder later moved to Springfield Mo. married had 3 children divorced remarried and started his 2nd family and that he was in trouble a lot was some kind of a salesman would get drunk and sale his samples his father William Thomas Holder would pack his bag take the train and go to where Carson was get him out of trouble. When William Thomas Holder would come back he would would not talk about where he had been or what was wrong he would go into the bed room and talk to his wife Judah they could hear her crying. She loved Carson and did not wont him to be in jail. The woman who wrote all this to me said she had never saw her Uncle Carson and was told that he had moved to South America. NOW FOR THE REST OF THE STORY. at the 2005 Smith- Roberts 3 new cousins showed up and told us that Carson had rented a horse and buggy got drunk and lost the horse and buggy was sent to the pen. But he escaped as he was walking down a road he saw a mail box with the name Stewart on it so he took his first name and his father's name and the name Stewart off the mail box and he became WILLIAM THOMAS STEWART. went to Southern Arkansas remarried for the 3rd time had a family of 3 children. Before he died he told his children all about his life his name was Holder his mother was Mary Jane Hathcoat and that his stepmother was the cousin of Mary Jane, and that he had gone back to Harrison Arkansas to see his cousin Marvin Hathcoat who was a lawyer and that Marvin Hathcoat, who did not like him, but had helped him get a pardon from MO, since he was kin. Carson's Grandson told me that the family did not believe all this story that was told by Carson but the Grandson after he retired started thanking about what was told to him and started checking and found out that Carson was telling the truth. CHRISTEEN HATHCOAT MOORE daughter of Newman Lester Hathcoat went to Wesley Allen Hathcoat's home about 1970 and talked to him about the family history. She wrote some of it down. Wesley said that they just went to Boone County Arkansas one time to see his Grandfather Thomas Jefferson Hathcoat . It took a long time as it was a hard trip and a long ways in a wagon. They had bear meat to eat on the way. Went by Mt. Home, Arkansas and stayed one night with Uncle William C. Uncle William went with them the rest of the way. Said that Uncle Polk had a son Joe his age (my grand father). Joe asked him if he wonted to see two fat girls. They went to the ROBERTS home. The Roberts were kin but he did not know how. The girls were large. His grandfather Thomas Jefferson had a tobbaco patch and when the hogs would get in it the boys would get the dogs to chase them out. This was the last time he ever saw any of this family (about 1888). JOHN WESLEY and his wife are buried in Lawrence County Arkansas, Opposition cemetery, Ravenden Arkansas. Grandma took wonderful care of us and never missed a beat with all her duties. It sure was cold upstairs in that old farmhouse. Dr. Winters was a native Kansan who made the Run with his parents in 1889. As a teenager, he taught country school northwest of Cashion. He graduated from OAMC with a B.S. degree in Agronomy in 1911. (Dr. Winters rode his horse from his home in Cashion to Stillwater - personal communication.) After college, he organized the Agriculture Dept. at Southeastern Normal (now Southeastern State) in Durant. He then became superintendent of a Texas substation for six years. Dr. Winters earned an M.S. degree in 1918 from Texas A&M and took a position as Soils Extension Specialist at North Carolina State. Later, he was awarded a Ph.D. degree from Cornell University in 1923. After graduation, he was Director of the Research Laboratory (boll weevil research) at Pee Dee Experiment Station in South Carolina. Next, he organized research and extension in Argentina and other South American countries. In 1929, Winters was appointed as Head Of Agronomy Department and Assistant Director of the Agricultural Experiment station at OAMC. He established a soil testing laboratory in 1929 and inaugurated an Agronomy Field Day in 1931. Dr. Winters instituted the county soil survey in 1929 and was responsible for a quick survey of soil erosion in 48 counties using "crop meters" attached to car odometers. In 1932, he was appointed to a regional soil erosion board and selected a team to survey badly eroded Stillwater Creek which led to the designation of Lake Carl Blackwell as a multi-use area. After a leave of absence from OAMC, Dr. Winters became a regional director of the Soil Erosion Service (now NRCS) in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. After military service, he joined the USDA Foreign Agriculture Service in South America and Indonesia in 1945. Dr. Winters retired from government service in 1954 and died in 1977 at the age of 93.
