Anecdotes
My grandfather, George William Lauterbach, told this story about his McDaniel grandparents: One day a traveler passing by was invited to have dinner with Amanda and Henry. During the course of the meal, the traveler mentioned that he had a male acquaintance with one brown and one blue eye, similar to Amanda Jane. According to my grandfather, Henry replied, “Well then, he must have been an old son-o-bitch.” I was never told whether Amanda threw anything at Henry or not.1 (Paul L. Hathcoat, June 2005)
